  1. • Hero
The hero’s name is Phil Connors

    • Ordinary World
Phil is a self-absorbed, arrogant weatherman who works at a television station in Pittsburgh

    • What is the crisis that unbalances his world?
He is sent to cover the yearly festivities of Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania but that day keeps repeating itself over and over again.

    • What is the special world?
His special world comes after realizing there are no long-term consequences to his actions and starts doing whatever he pleases.

    • Who are his allies and antagonists?
His allies are camera men Larry and his new producer Rita

    • Who or what delivers his call to adventure?
The opportunity to learn as much as his want from the people in town and things in general which he uses to try and get Rita with whom he falls in love.

    • Define the three acts according to the two main plot points.
At first his normal life where he is a weatherman, the second act would be once the days start repeating themselves and he feels like a lost soul and even killed himself a number of times, the third act would be once he starts doing something good with his gift when he tries to redeem himself and becomes basically a good citizen instead of the selfish and arrogant weathermen he was at first

    • When does the hero know what to do to win?
When he thinks that saving others people life would change something and maybe then time will continue to run.

    • Does he?
In reality he does not really know if anything he does will make a difference but he changed as a person and is trying to redeem himself being a better person

    • Describe the hero’s transformation (called the character arc)
At the beginning he was a total jerk self-absorbed and arrogant weatherman, then with the day started repeating themselves and slowly he started to lose it, after a while he began to realize that maybe there was something positive he could do with all this time and started improving himself which at first was for personal gain (like when he used it to get with Nancy and the dozens of times he tried to get with Rita) but after a while he realize that becoming a better person was the best way he could deal with what was happening to him, and so he did become a model citizen saved a number of lives. At the end of the movie Phil Connors was completely different to when he started being now kind, unselfish and generous, although you could argue that he became everything Rita said she wanted her ideal men to be, thus staying a selfish individual only looking to please Rita and didn’t do all those things out of pure kindness and generosity.

Nothing works, until he tries to do the opposite of what he has been trying. He was a self-centered, egoist person, he now tries to be caring, and wonderful, and good. This apparently works, and he learns that being that way is not bad.

    His name is Phil Conners
His ordinery world is to live as the worlds most famous weather man.
His world become unbalanced when he gets stuck in a town that he hates, and he revives the same day over and over again.
The special world is that, he can do whatever he wants to do on that day. And there are no consequences for it tomorrow.
His allies from my point of view were the town people. but the most important allie he had, was Rita.
The woman who he loves. He decides to change himself for her.
At the begining he is a selfish man, then he tries to get out of the situation, but at the end he becomes a good member of the society.
When he does everything and he fails to get out, so he tries to become a different person
    Yes he wins.
He goes from being a selfish man who only cares about himself to a man who cares about everyone and loves everyone.

The hero in this movie is Phil Connors played by Bill Murray. Phil is a news meteorologist for channel 9 in Pittsburg. He’s accustomed to having a mild celebrity status, but mainly complex. As a consequence of his self-adulation, he has developed a cloud of narcissistic arrogance that follows him anywhere he goes. Phil’s adventure begins when he’s obliged to visit Punxsutawney, Pittsburg for the annual Groundhog Day festivities and report his ‘findings.’ He is also accompanied by two co-workers. The camera man Larry and producer, Rita. While experiencing Groundhog Day, Phil, is experiencing a horrible time. He is surrounded by people he can’t tolerate and continuously demigods. Before he can leave town, a blizzard has becomes a stymie for his desired exit. For reasons he can’t understand, Phil relives Groundhog Day over and over. At first he sees it as an opportunity to satisfy his most instinctual and self-indulging needs like sex and the violation of U.S. laws. Phil doesn’t understand how or why he is going through such a peculiar predicament but views it as freak phenomenon, a fabrication God. Act I: the hero is comfortable with being and egotistical weatherman. Act II: Phil is recreating Groundhog Day and he doesn’t know why or how to stop it, so he rolls with the punches as they come. Act III: Phil discovers that he must go through a transformation and help others, as he did with the Mayor, the little boy and Pop. After such event’s he is able to get the girl and live in the tomorrow. Somewhere, near the middle of the perpetual Groundhog Day timeline, Phil begins to acknowledge that he can’t simply manipulate people by learning all there is to know about them. He must change his way of being in order to acquire a desired and genuine acceptance from the public. Near the end of the movie Phil begins to help out everyone in a selfless manor, now he has truly gone through the full metaphysical transformation. He is no longer a dismissive prick that cares too much about himself to consider others. And it is then, only then, when he Rita sincerely falls in love with him. She has that desire to chase him, it is not a manipulation or another of Phil’s mechanisms for control. Phil was an asshole who through force of powers beyond his understanding made him experience the same day for months if not years. He started to have fun but then became sickened with his own condition. Later, came his rebirth of wanting to try new things he believed would make him a better person. He chased Rita, which at first did not work but at his personality changed so did her perception of him and their relationship of cemented. A new life beyond his initial imagination was made into reality.

  6. Our hero is Phil Connors, a conceited and egotistic anchor and weatherman from Pittsburgh, who has been assigned to cover an annual event in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. His everyday world consists in working at the network, delivering the weather updates in a rather awkward manner, but one he is very proud of. Connors self-denominates as a star, even when his co-workers don’t treat him like one.

Once he leaves to Punxsutawney with Rita, the new producer, and Larry, the cameraman, he is determined to get it over with quickly in order to get back to Pittsburgh right away. Covering Groundhog Day was something he did year after year, and was annoyed by such a stupid festivity. After the event, they tried to go back to Pittsburgh, but a blizzard stopped them and had to return. The unbalancing moment that shook him was the day after the event, at 6:00 a.m, when the radio had the same news as yesterday. Phil looked out the window, and it looked exactly like the day before. Shortly after he walked out of his room, he realized yesterday was happening all over again. This continued to happen for what seemed like weeks, starting everyday when his alarm clock hit 6:00 a.m.

As for allies and antagonists, not really. Larry and Rita were on his side, but he didn’t seem to have enemies. The situation in which he saw himself go through at first confused him, but after several “days”, he realized he could do whatever he wanted, no consequence; the very next day he would be on his bed at the lodge. He began to change the course of his actions, switching to new places where he even defied the police in order to prove to himself what was happening to him. When he began to notice Rita and to really like her, he started a game where they would go on the same date for days, until he learned everything about her, being able to amaze her in the next one.

Act I: Phil Connors is shown in his ordinary world, in his comfort zone, doing what he has always done. Act II: He realizes February 2nd is happening day after day, and is confused about it. He acts crazy, and learns the drill to the point where he knows what everybody is going to do and say at each time of the day. Connors uses what happened to him to do whatever he wants. Act III: After he falls for Rita, he has a change of heart and begins to treat people with respect, being hospitable and charming to everyone, and people recognize him for it. Rita is the nicest woman he knows, she treats every single person with love. He learns that if he is not sincere about his deeds, he will never win her heart. And he did.

Phil used to be obnoxious, self-loving, and egocentric. He only thought about his own needs, and thought of himself as a valuable star. Rita was the person to change him. When he noticed how pure she was, he knew she would never correspond to him. At first he tried to win her by tricking her, taking her on dates every night and getting information out of her that he could later use. At the end, he adopted a different attitude. He became a real hero by doing good deeds for everyone, and actually feeling good about it. That way he won her, and tomorrow came the next day.

The special world is a world in which if he dies or falls asleep at night he will wake up in his bed on Groundhog day. He then is able to redo his day over and over to achieve the outcomes he wants.
    5. Who are his allies and antagonists?
His allies were his camera man Larry and Rita, the producer. The only antagonist I can think of was that annoying guy that always bothered him, trying to get him to remember who he is.
    6. Who or what delivers his call to adventure?
His chance to go to Punxsutawney in order to pursue Rita.
    7. Define the three acts according to the two main plot points.

    10. Describe the hero’s transformation (called the character arc).
He begins the story as an arrogant, self centered, weather man. He is crude and cannot really tell how much he puts off the people around him. He only cares about his own interests and when the days begin repeating he tries to solve the problem as he always did. When this proved futile he tried to take his own life. After realizing that this wouldn’t work, he was forced to make some changes for the good. This thinking of other people was the secret needed to release him from the Groundhog Day loop.

  8. The Hero is Phill Connors, he is a weatherman for channel 9 from Pittsburgh. , He is arrogant and frustrated with how monotonous his life has become and makes no effort on hiding it to the world. He is sent to cover Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney for the fourth year with Rita the channels new producer and Larry the camera man who are constantly nice to him and he pushes them away. After covering the story on Groundhog Day he wakes up to see its groundhog day again and again and again and he is doomed to continue repeating the same day until he realizes how different he can make everyday and the ones around him by just changing his attitude. His allies would be Rita and Larry I don’t think there is another antagonist but himself. The fact of re-living the same day over and over again gives him a chance to make up for things, not missing any detail and not worrying about the consequences of his actions since he can make up for them the other day, no fear towards anything not even death I think this is the call to adventure.

*Define the three acts according to the two main plot points.

    -Arrogant self-centred weatherman
-Doomed to repeat Groundhog Day over and over
-After many failed intents to resume his life as it was and getting over the fact that he couldn’t get out of it by committing suicide he naturally continued day after day easy giving importance on what he could really make a difference everyday and by seeing the outcome he naturally changed into a better man, giving him a chance to go back to his normal life.

*When does the hero know what to do to win? Does he?

He doesn’t, he naturally becomes a better human being and appreciates what was given to him in life he gets his normal life again, and continues to live.

The hero in this movie is the weatherman Phill Collins. His ordinary world is just that, living in pittsburg and being a weatherman. The crisis he faces is that he has to live and repeat Ground Hogs day over and over again. The special world is the day that he lives in, thats repetitive. Depending on the day he can face it happily or depressingly. His allie is Rita and the antagonist is the day he faces and himself. His call to adventure was being placed in the Groundhog day coverage. The 3 main acts are Phill going to cover the story at the town, he wakes up in the same day over and over again, he then flips the story and does all the good manageble and possible and the day ends. He just knows how to win by trying to flip his life around and being happy and positive for once. Yes, he wins He first starts off miserable, then he starts to take advantage of the day to his advantage only, then he turns into spreading love and happiness.
